The film "PAINTING WITH LIGHT: The Art of Bunch Washington" was created by Dominic Ronald Akena, a student at Franklin & Marshall College. Akena was first introduced to filmmaking as a main subject of the 2007 Emmy-winning documentary “War / Dance,” about children from a refugee camp in northern Uganda. He gained more experience in film while volunteering as an intern alongside his adopted parents, the American filmmakers of “War / Dance,” on their 2014 release “Life According to Sam,” another Emmy winner. Dominic worked independently on "Painting with Light," wearing many hats and completing all conceptual and technical tasks as part of his Fall 2014 coursework in Elizabeth de Souza and Michael Penn's "Painting with Light & Sleeping in the Fire" course.
